Break Beat VR was my undergraduate dissertation project, showing a concept I have wanted to create for years.
It is a standard VR rhythm game with the addition of turn based RPG mechanics to add a new interactive layer into the VR rhythm game space.
Break Beat VR was a concept I have had in the back of my mind for the last few years. I had always enjoyed traditional VR rhythm games (e.g Beat Saber), especially ones that more focus on the rhythm of a track being a bassist and drummer myself. But I had always thought that the accuracy scores you get given when finishing a song could be used better, such as in a turn based RPG. In Break Beat VR, the player is presented with drums and notes that move towards you to hit and play along with a background track. Dependent on how accurate the player is with these hits will tie directly to how much damage they will do to an enemy that they are presented with.
